july 19th - 25th

well past the half-way point now in this photo-journal challenge.  i'm getting more comfortable with the process and have established a kind of rhythm. big thank you to those who are reading this and sticking with me in my wanderings.  here is my week in photos....enjoy.

this is the graveyard where my dear teacher hedy tower is buried.  the service was a very small private affair, only family and few close friends were invited.  having missed this part of the ritual i (for one) felt that things were unresolved, kind of up in the air.  i thought it was important to visit her grave to bring some closure. after doing some digging (no pun intended), and with the help of my friend dianewe scheduled a time to go for a visit.  montefiore cemetry, one of the oldest jewish cemeteries in the philadelphia area.
we'd called ahead and determined where the grave site was.  my heart was heavy, but it felt good to see where my dear teacher was buried, and to spill some tears.  it was comforting to know that she is next to her husband.  we each left a stone on the gravestone.

the marker has not yet been engraved with hedy's info

uma and i went on a walk and found these dried and rolled up leaves under a rhododendron .  they
fit perfectly on to our fingers, very exotic.  uma and i took them home to show mama who was as exited as we were about out find.

auntie tash and uncle alex were in town for a few days before they left on their "birthright"
trip to israel.

uma holding her brudder...

chestnut hill farmer's market....uma enjoyed fresh corn (yum) while mama & daddy shopped for fresh veggies and fruit.

we were all invited to nephew asher's  7th birthday party. it was  held at a lovely park in manayunk, the weather was beautiful and the sprinkler pool was a great way to keep cool.

anjuli had a gig at fire, a club/bar in northern liberties.  diana and i drove down and had a nice dinner, walked around a bit before the show.  anjuli's band was only on for half hour, but they were great and we very much
enjoyed the show.

here's a little video from anjuli's performance that, in all honesty, is not very good.  they were having technical difficulties and it really show.  but here it is none the less.

the elkins park farmer's market...i was struck by the hill of black eyed susan's in the background.

another hot day, playing on the front porch with a water toy

after three previous attempts uma and i finally managed to get in to a library.  we didn't stay too long, she seemed a little overwhelmed, but we read several books and drank out of the water fountain twice.  lots of people watching!!    next time i will take her to glenside library which is a much smaller library.
