march 1st.........
welcome march, the month of my birthday, lord chaitanya's appearance, passover and spring. with the coming of spring the birds are getting very excited...lots of activity in the air. my bird feeder has become quite the popular place, but all the birds hightail it when mr squirrel shows up. i bought this feeder with the idea of keeping the squirrels out. the only downside is that the bigger birds are also kept out. in this picture (taken through the window in my office) is a persistent squirrel trying to get to the seeds.
march 2nd....first friday

when i think of first friday and i think of center city...but we have our own version of first friday right here in my neighborhood. two of my friends with fabulous stores opened their doors, serving food, drink and even performance. susie and i hopped around for a couple of hours before settling down at my place to work on sewing our skirts for the student salon on sunday.

march 3rd....

saturday morning yoga ahhh....great way to start the weekend. spent the afternoon with diana, finally she got to meet the madhava. uma became a little jealous of all the attention madhava was getting. mama took charge and handled the situation admirably, taking uma out of the room for a little while. when they returned uma helped clean up the mess she made and seemed to have it under control. diana and then took uma out for a walk to see the owls and the princess fairy. it was a lovely afternoon.

uma is an avid birdwatcher as is her mother and me too....we were watching and listening to the birds who are very active right now in preparation for spring, mating and nest building. also the moon was in plain view, and it followed us all the way back home.

more signs of spring. after taking uma home, diana and i stopped a cute neighborhood coffee shop for coffee and this beautiful tree greeted us. sadly we were too late and it was closed, but it was worth the trip just to see this harbinger of spring. later we met for dinner at mirna's (another neighborhood treasure).

today is the day of the student salon. here we are chilling at the studio waiting for the rest of the gals to show up for a final practice before the show.
this is once of the student dancers doing a veil dance.
this was another good dancer...she used a sword.

uma and i had another little adventure today. we visited her tia (anjuli) and had tea and then walked the labyrinth after visiting the baby goats.
